Donate to the Cowichan Valley Public Art Gallery Project
This public art gallery will host prestigious international and national exhibitions that will both serve the local population and bring arts tourism to the valley. It will supply a variety of arts and educational programming for the local community, enriching lives and encouraging the growth and understanding of contemporary arts.
It will also provide exposure for local artists through curated exhibitions. The lack of a public art gallery in a region with such a high concentration of both amateur and professional artists needs to be remedied. Many internationally famous artists live locally but must show their art elsewhere. The gallery will provide the appropriate venue to exhibit their art here.
Since CVPAG’s first art exhibition in the summer of 2018, this process has already begun with the society’s art exhibits, ranging from “Estuary: Cradle of Life”, highlighting the fragile ecology of the Cowichan River Estuary, to “The Suitcase Project”, exploring the dislocation of Japanese Canadians interned during World War II and its continued effects on their descendants today.
A donation to our society will enable us to make the Cowichan Valley Public Art Gallery a reality. Preliminary projects are underway and require funding, including an economic feasibility study, architectural renderings and various promotional offerings.
